VioSense introduces MiniLDV©
A Versatile Miniature Laser Doppler Velocimeter

Based on its core technologies, VioSense Corporation has developed a new
patent pending miniature laser velocimeter. It is a self
contained, waterproof and permanently aligned sensor. A photograph of
the MiniLDV including the optical sensor and the power supply electronics
is shown below. The MiniLDV unit contains a laser, miniature beam
shaping optics, receiving optics, and a detection system. The sensor is
38 mm (1.5") in diameter and 100 mm (4") long, and the fixed distance
between the sensor and the probe volume can be selected between 40 mm to
150 mm
 
Miniature velocimeter and power supply
Standard options available for
the MiniLDV includes a computer-controlled linear traversing
instrument (seen as one of our custom installations), and signal
processing. (More information on the signal processing system coming soon!)
VioSense presents a complete and
affordable laser Doppler velocimeter system for Fluid Mechanics
laboratories and educational institutions. It includes the laser
velocimeter attached to a traversing mechanism, the processing software,
and traversing control software, with user interface software.
The boundary layer velocity
survey shown below was obtained with the traversing miniature laser
velocimeter mounted on a flat plate in a
small educational water tunnel.
